Get Involved with CMGMA

Dear CMGMA Member,

Thank you for your interest to “Get Involved” with CMGMA on the Board Level!  Please click here to download a Board Candidate Interest Form.

All Board of Directors (BOD) must be Members for at least one year in good standing and serve a minimum of one (1) year term without remuneration beginning January 1 and ending December 31.

Our Nominating Committee begins the yearly process in September of selecting a new slate of directors for the upcoming year for presentation and vote at the Annual Meeting held in November.

The purpose of the CMGMA Board of Directors (BOD) is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas among business professionals and managers engaged in the business affairs of medical practice organizations and to serve as a place in which solutions to the problems of medical practice management may be developed through group effort and group concerted action. It also serves as a mechanism for increased awareness through education and the development of management information relating to medical practices.

The BOD oversees the property, affairs and business of the association. They may exercise all of the powers of the CMGMA, based on the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws. The office of President-Elect shall automatically succeed to the office of President for a term of one year. Any individual nominated to the office of President-Elect shall be a current member of the BOD, as long as any current member of the BOD is interested in the position. The office of Treasurer shall be a succession and for a term of one year. All other positions shall be open to nomination each year and will be limited to one or two-year terms.

Membership on the BOD is comprised of the following:

Officers:

  1. President;
  2. President-Elect;
  3. Secretary; and
  4. Treasurer.

Other Members and committees:

  1. Immediate Past-President;
  2. Membership Committee;
  3. Program Committee;
  4. Communication and Outreach Committee.

So, what are the traits we look for in a CMGMA Board of Director recruit?  Many of the skills developed in the field of practice management are helpful skills for volunteers on our committees.

Being involved in the leadership of the CMGMA is extremely rewarding. However, the decision to participate should not be taken lightly. It involves a time commitment to the organization, the leadership team and the members of the organization.

We meet approximately 8-10 times per year both in person and virtually. Our meetings run about 1 ½- 2 hours a session with additional communication and committee work conducted in between meeting dates via phone calls and emails to accomplish goals.

Responsibilities while serving:

Volunteering for an organization that you are passionate about being a part of is a unique and personal way of making a difference. To learn more or to express further interest, please contact CMGMA directly at 860-243-3977.
